Seamus is a referral veterinary surgeon based primarily in Cork, Ireland, providing advanced surgical care for companion animals across a broad range of orthopaedic, soft tissue and neurological conditions. He graduated from University College Dublin with a degree in Veterinary Medicine and has completed postgraduate certificates in Small Animal Surgery and Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care. He is recognised by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons as an Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Surgery.
He currently works at Sunbeam Veterinary Hospital, a busy multidisciplinary referral and emergency hospital with advanced surgical, diagnostic imaging and intensive care facilities, allowing for the management of complex surgical cases to a high clinical standard. Alongside his referral hospital role, he also operates as a peripatetic surgeon, visiting practices including Crescent Vets to provide advanced surgical procedures and support for referring veterinary teams.
Prior to returning to Ireland, Seamus spent almost ten years at Pride Veterinary Centre, one of the UK's leading specialist-led referral hospitals. During this time, he gained extensive experience managing a high-volume and varied caseload within a centre recognisedfor its advancedfacilities and high standards ofpatient care.
His orthopaedic caseload routinely includes, but is not limited to, TPLO surgery for cranial cruciate ligament disease, medial patellar luxation surgery andfracture repairs. He also regularly performs advanced soft tissue procedures including BOAS surgery, TECA-BO, complex mass excisions and reconstructive procedures, in addition to selected neurosurgical procedures such as hemilaminectomy and ventral slots for intervertebral disc disease.
Seamus places particular emphasis on meticulous surgical technique, evidence-based decision making and employs advanced local anaesthetic techniques for better patient welfare during surgery. He highly values close communication with both referring veterinary surgeons and owners. His approach combines referral-level expertise with a collaborative and practical style focused on achieving the best possible outcomes for patients while supporting the practices he works alongside.
